Hazardous Chemicals Policy

The Dewpoint Group is committed to promoting the health and safety of its employees and subcontractors.

Hazardous Chemicals are substances, mixtures and materials that can be classified according to their health and physiochemical risks and dangers (refer Globally Harmonised system of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) and the Chemical Hazard Classification in the WHS Act and Regulations 2011).

The Dewpoint Group has a primary duty to ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, that the health and safety of workers and other people are not put at risk form the business’ use, handling or storage of hazardous chemicals by:

• Ensuring that all legislative requirements are met with respect to record keeping and providing information including in relation to risk assessments and controls.
• Keeping and maintaining a register of hazardous chemicals and substances that is readily accessible to all relevant employees.
• Ensuring that all hazardous chemicals and substances used in the workplace are appropriately labelled, used, stored transported and disposed of in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines including providing employees with the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ensuring Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s) are kept for all hazardous chemicals and substances used at the workplace and that the register is readily accessible to all employees who may be exposed to hazardous chemicals and substances whilst at work.
• Eliminating risks or where not reasonably practicable, controlling risks associated with hazardous chemicals and substances.
• Providing training in hazardous chemicals and substances including induction training and hazard specific training as appropriate and as required in accordance with risk assessments and safe work method statements.
• Ensuring Supervisors and workers are aware of site emergency response and exposure response procedures.
